BENNINGTON — The Bennington Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred early Monday morning at The Apple Barn and Country Bake Shop on Route 7.

Police say when they arrived after receiving notification of a burglar alarm, the building was found to have been illegally entered. Several items missing include money, cash registers, and a laptop computer, according to a BPD press release. It is not clear how the suspects got inside or the amount of money that was taken.

Evidence from the scene revealed that "at least two" people entered the building, the release said.

The Apple Barn posted on Facebook on Wednesday confirming the incident and ensuring customers: "We want you all to know that things can and have been replaced. There was minimal damage."
