Woman with suspended license cited in crash

SHAFTSBURY— A Bondville woman with a criminally suspended license and her five year-old passenger were uninjured when she crashed her car on Route 7 on Sunday morning, police say.

Caitlin Waal, 25, crashed her Chevrolet Malibu in the area of mile marker 16 in Shaftsbury around 10:45 a.m. Vermont State Police Trooper Justin Walker came upon the crash shortly after it occurred, and witnessed multiple passersby who had stopped to render aid to the occupants of the vehicle, states a VSP press release.

Walker discovered that Waal's privelenge to drive in Vermont was criminally suspended at the time of the crash, and she was issued a citation to appear at the criminal division of the Bennington County Superior Court on April 22.

Police say the five year-old child was Waal's only passenger. The roads were covered in ice and slush at the time of the crash, and it was snowing.
