Woman wanted for vehicle theft spotted in Manchester

MANCHESTER — The Manchester Police Department is working to locate a woman it says has a history of vehicle theft, who was spotted on Depot Street Sunday morning.

Christine Olivia Powers, 51, is described as being 5'07" tall and weighing approximately 150 lbs with brown hair and brown eyes. While Powers does not have any known family or friends in the area, she may be in the company of a small chihuahua dog and a yellow cat.

"We don't have much more information yet," said Manchester Police Detective Abigail Zimmer. "She has a history of taking vehicles and we are concerned that she may try to do so here."

On Sunday police received a complaint about a suspicious vehicle on Depot Street. Upon investigation police discovered that Powers had been living in the vehicle, which they suspect was stolen in Pennsylvania.

Police have circulated a photo of Powers.

"Two people had spotted her in the area of Depot Street," said Zimmer. "It's definitely an old picture, so we're working to get an updated photograph. We do know that she has a dog with her."

Powers is wanted by local police for possession of stolen property and also faces an active arrest warrant from Pennsylvania. Police said Powers is known for vehicle theft as well as taking license plates off of cars.

Anyone who locates Powers is asked to not approach her and to contact police at 802-362-2121.
