Wiggins leads Storm to opening win

NEWINGTON, Conn. — The Southern Vermont Storm started its 15th season on the winning track, traveling to Connecticut and topping the Brawlers, 20-12 on Saturday.

Lavante Wiggins was the offensive star in the opener for the Storm, rushing for 80 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Joe Wiggins added a touchdown catch from Will Cole, who was 5-of-10 for 180 yards through the air.

Jalen Hill caught a 63-yard pass during the victory.

Defensively, the Storm were led by Billy Demers, who had four sacks on the Brawlers signal-caller. Cory Viscosi added an interception as well.

The Storm are off next weekend and return for a game on September 19 at Keene High School in New Hampshire.
