VSECU celebrates grand opening
BENNINGTON >> VSECU, the only credit union for everybody who lives or works in Vermont, will celebrate its grand opening June 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
VSECU is now located at 194 North St. next to Rite Aid. The new branch, which opened for business on May 1, invites the community to join members and staff for the grand opening celebration, with branch tours, refreshments, ribbon cutting and recognition.
The credit union has partnered with the American Red Cross to organize a blood drive in the parking lot the day of the event. Participants can walk in or schedule an appointment in advance on VSECU.com.
The VSECU tour will also introduce downtown Bennington's first proposed co-working space, The Lightning Jar. This space will serve entrepreneurs, startups, small businesses, students, remote workers and other professionals in Southern Vermont and neighboring states. Members will share resources and benefit from a community, social, collaborative and professional environment, all at a low cost. VSECU is collaborating with locally minded individuals from the business, education, civic and government sectors in Bennington and Vermont to develop this concept with the goal of bringing greater economic development and prosperity to the region.
"We are thrilled to be a bigger part of the Bennington community, by offering an alternative to traditional banking options and serving our existing and new members in the area," said Yvonne Garand, SVP Business Development.
Schedule of activities:
Welcome and branch tours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Ribbon cutting and recognition: 11 a.m.
American Red Cross Blood Drive: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
VSECU, which now serves over 57,000 Vermonters, recently completed the second of two mergers in the Bennington area. Former members of Bennington E/E Federal Credit Union are now able to access to a broader array of financial products and services than were previously available to them. In August, 2014, VSECU also merged with P.M.H. Credit Union. The new Bennington Branch hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a deposit-taking ATM available seven days a week.
VSECU is a not-for-profit banking alternative for all Vermonters that is owned and controlled by its members and governed by an elected volunteer board of directors. The credit union offers a full range of affordable financial products and services to its member owners. People eligible to join the credit union include anyone who lives or works in Vermont.
