UCS offers course in Mental Health First Aid
BENNINGTON — According to United Counseling Service of Bennington County, you are more likely to encounter someone in an emotional or mental crisis than someone having a heart attack. UCS is offering a free course in how to help a friend, family member, coworker or neighbor in need.
Mental Health First Aid is an eight-hour training course that teaches participants an action plan to assess a situation, select and implement interventions and secure appropriate care for the individual. The program introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact, and overviews common treatments.
Mental Health First Aid Training will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 15 and 16 at UCS, 100 Ledge Hill Drive, Bennington. For more information or to reserve a spot contact Jennifer Parizo at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 802-445-7443. There is no charge, but space is limited.
