BENNINGTON — Two men were cited for disorderly conduct Monday after police reportedly found them snowboarding on Route 9 in Woodford during a snowstorm.

Skylar Getting, 18, and Patryk Magdziak, 19, both of Pennsylvania, were snowboarding on the highway when Vermont State Police arrived on scene, according to a VSP release.

Troopers were dispatched around 6 p.m. following a report that some people were snowboarding among vehicular traffic on Route 9 between Searsburg and Woodford.

The road conditions were poor at the time, Trooper Raymond Witkowski wrote in an email, citing a covering of snow, gusting winds and poor visibility.

A VSP investigation found that the men "recklessly created a risk of obstruction of vehicular traffic in an area known for an already high incidence of winter weather-related motor vehicle crashes and complaints."

There was on ongoing snowstorm at the time, which had dumped at least 20 inches of snow in Woodford. The state Department of Transportation was requiring all trucks traveling on Route 9 between Searsburg and Woodford to to use tire chains.

Magdziak of Tamiment, Pennsylvania, and Getting of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, were cited to appear at the Bennington County Superior Court - Criminal Division on Feb. 10.
