The past, colorized: Town Meeting Day, 1914

Posted
Tim Wager is working to colorize hundreds of black-and-white photographs of Bennington in the 19th and 20th centuries from the Bennington Museum collection, and has been sharing them with the Banner. In this week's photo, we see men filing into the Library Theater on Silver Street to take part in the 1914 Town Meeting. Where are the women? They wouldn't have suffrage for another six years. Visible on the side of the building are posters for upcoming concerts, movies and plays. In the background is Main Street, and on the left is Newton's Hardware Store, later Adam's Hardware.
