The past, colorized: Letting off steam, circa 1900
The proud crew poses with their new locomotive and passenger car at the Bennington train depot in this circa-1900 photo, colorized by Tim Wager. Wager said he believes the train is the North Bennington depot commuter train, bringing passengers from Bennington to North Bennington, where they could catch trains to New York City or points east. "Here's some trivia for the train lovers — the cow catcher on the front of the engine was constructed mainly of wood, not steel," he said.
