The Checkup for June 18: Vermont reports first COVID death in 3 weeks

According to the Vermont Department of Health, there have been six new cases of COVID-19 in Vermont since Wednesday, bringing the cumulative total to 1,135. Three of the new cases are linked to an outbreak in Winooski.
Bennington County had one new case, raising the cumulative total to 68. New cases were also reported in Addison and Rutland counties.
One Vermonter has died of the disease since Wednesday, raising the total number of deaths to 56. It was the first reported death since May 28.
So far, 54,745 tests have been administered.
The health department reported that 807 people were being monitored as of Sunday, an increase of more than 100 since Wednesday, and 1,065 have completed monitoring.
Two more Vermonters have recovered from COVID-19 since Wednesday, bringing the cumulative total to 917.
