The Checkup for Aug. 6: 1 Vermonter dies of COVID-19

The statistics supplied by the Vermont Department of Health at midday each day are accurate as of the end of the previous day.
The Vermont Department of Health on Thursday reported nine new cases of COVID-19 in Vermont over the past day, bringing the cumulative total to 1,445. There were five new cases in Rutland County, and one each in Bennington, Windsor, Washington and Lamoille counties.
Bennington County's cumulative total is now 85.
One Vermonter died of the disease over the past day, raising the death toll to 58. One Vermonter is currently hospitalized with the disease.
So far, 100,052 tests have been administered.
The health department reported that 1,055 people were being monitored, an increase of 47 over the past day. Of those, 1,025 are travelers to Vermont.
The number of Vermonters reported to have recovered from COVID-19 rose by five, to 1,258.
