Strikes & Spares for Second Chance

Posted

ARLINGTON — Second Chance Animal Center will hold its first Strikes & Spares for Second Chance fundraising event on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Bennington Lanes.

"Second Chance is excited to work with the owners of Bennington Lanes to organize a fun fundraising event," Cathi Comar, executive director, said in a media release. "This one-day event is for individuals, couples, families, and groups who want to bowl for a cause —our shelter! We appreciate that Bennington Lanes is sponsoring this event and donating the shoe rental fee to show their support. Refreshments and beverages will be available, including an ice-cream sundae bar provided by Wilcox Ice Cream and Specialty Foods."

The event begins at 1 p.m. on Sept. 21 and will continue until Bennington Lanes closes at 10 p.m. Those planning to attend Strikes & Spares for Second Chance are encouraged to pre-register in order to bowl at your preferred time period. You can either go to the website at www.2ndchanceanimalcenter.org or call the shelter at 802-375-2898. The cost to participate is $20 per person or $15 for teams of 10 or more, and a special family rate is also available. The registration fee covers the cost of one game and shoe rental and all the popcorn you can eat.

Walk-ins are also welcome.

Second Chance will also have a basket raffle with items donated by Orvis, Petco, Hawkins House, Gwen Barker/Pampered Chef, and other donors. Raffle tickets for a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek will be available for purchase. The winning ticket for the car will be drawn on Oct. 12, and only 2,100 will be sold.

Bennington Lanes is located at 219 Northside Drive in Bennington, adjacent to the Northside Dairy Bar.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Second Chance's shelter services and community programs. The center directly touches the lives of over 1,600 companion animals each year through its programs, including adoptions and surrenders, low-cost spay/neuter assistance, an Angel Fund for emergency veterinary care, fee-waived pet-food pantry, low-cost rabies clinic, and much more.

Second Chance has been a proud member of the Bennington County community for 60 years.
