POWNAL — A Shaftsbury man involved in a crash in Pownal on Saturday faces a charge of leaving the scene after running into a parked vehicle.

Vermont State Police Trooper Wayne Godfrey responded to a report of the accident at 10 a.m. near 1587 Strohmaier Road, just south of Fuller Road. He stated that a caller reported one of the vehicles in the crash was attempting to flee the scene.

Godfrey said he found George Zelayagranados, 28, driving a 2005 GMC Canyon and attempting to leave the scene after crashing into an unoccupied 2007 Lincoln, causing moderate damage.

Weather conditions were reported to be wet and icy.

There were no reported injuries.

Zelayagranados was issued a citation for a court appearance on Feb. 25.
