Shaftsbury garage project to go out to bid

SHAFTSBURY — The Shaftsbury Select Board is reviewing the bid package put together by Goldstone Architecture in preparation of putting the new town garage project out to bid on Oct. 1.

Town Administrator David Kiernan said he had received the packet from Goldstone just prior to the Select Board's meeting on Monday, but had not had time to review the information. The board requested that Kiernan set up a special meeting with representatives from Goldstone next week to review the information before putting the project out to bid. That meeting has not yet been warned.

Kiernan said that the road crew has not yet been able to start work preparing the site because the state earlier this week requested more information about the town's transfer station, which is being re-worked as part of the garage project. "It's really not a problem," he said, "but it's paperwork, so the approval is going to be delayed, probably until mid-October, and they never like you to start moving dirt until the final approval."

MSK will present the site plan for the project to the town's Development Review Board at their meeting on Oct. 4.
