Roundup: Hoosick Falls field hockey remains perfect


QUEENSBURY, N.Y. — Playing two games in two days did nothing to slow down Hoosick Falls on Thursday, as they scored a 6-0 win over Corinth to remain spotless at 14-0.

Lillian Hickey scored three times to lead the Panthers, followed by a pair of goals from Catherine Kennedy and a single tally from Emma McCart.

Hickey, Ayla Fauler and Emily Schnoop all added assists for Hoosick Falls.

Zoe Gress made one save to earn the win in goal.

Hoosick hosts Salem-Cambridge today at 4:15 p.m. to finish the regular season and await their playoff opponent when the seeds are revealed this weekend.

MAU drops 3-1 to Wahconah

DALTON, Mass. — The Mount Anthony volleyball team fell 3-1 to Wahconah in a Berkshire League matchup on Thursday.

The Patriots lost the first two sets 25-22 and 25-9 before roaring back for a 25-20 win in the third set. They battled through the fourth set, but came out on the wrong end of a 25-22 score.

Danielle Moscarello led the way offensively for the Patriots, registering eight aces, six kills, five digs and five blocks. Emilie O'Brien added five aces, four kills and four digs.

Amber Metcalfe had 10 digs to lead MAU, along with four aces and three kills. Carly Bylina added eight assists.

MAU drops to 0-9 on the year and hosts Mount Greylock on Wednesday.

Raiders edge Patriots

RUTLAND -- A goal from Rutland's Kendra Sabotka with 10 minutes left in the game was the difference in the Mount Anthony girls soccer team's 1-0 loss.

The loss dropped the Patriots to 6-5 on the season.

MAU plays Brattleboro at Spinelli Field on Monday.

Home Run Derby for SVC softball

BENNINGTON — The Southern Vermont College softball team is hosting the inaugural Home Run Derby! This is a fundraiser for the SVC Softball Program.

Male and Female HR winners will each win a $25 gift card to Madison's Brewing Company. Kids are welcome too! There will be a shortened HR distance for children 12 and under.

The event will be at Willow Park today at 5 p.m.

NORTH BENNINGTON — The Village School of North Bennington Vermont is hosting the 2nd annual Track and Treat on Sunday, October 28th.

This event includes a 5K run/walk, a 1-Mile Family Fun Run, plus a special adventure course and pumpkin painting for the younger children throughout the morning!

MAYAA Basketball Registration

BENNINGTON — The 2018-19 MAYAA Basketball season is right around the corner.

Online registrations will begin Friday and continue through November 9. The registration link can be found at

If you prefer to register in person, you will be able to do so on November 6 and 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennington Elementary School. Registration is open to any boy or girl in first through sixth grades and the cost is $40 per player or $70 per family. Practices will begin after Thanksgiving.
