Robin Anish | The Table is Set: Cold, sweet treat for the toothless among us

Posted

Hanna, my winsome little niece, has been waiting five whole years to lose her first tooth.

You see, Hanna was savvy enough by around 3 years old to catch on that losing a tooth was some kind of big deal. She had seen how excited her sister, Reese, got when her tooth started to wiggle. Even mom and dad were excited about it and the excitement went on for days until one day Reese yelped, "my tooth fell out."

Well, it didn't take long for Hanna to figure out the reason behind Reese's excitement; there were perks to losing a tooth: Cha-ching! Cash under her pillow in the morning and all she had to do was lose her tooth. What a way to make money!

Now, at long last, it has happened. A Facebook post spread the word of the momentous event with a photo of Hanna, her grin as big as her fingers could stretch it, showing off the space between her teeth. No caption needed. Hanna had lost her first tooth and that photo, that triumphant grin has brought so much delight to all those who love her.

Knowing Hanna as I do, her wheels are probably spinning. I can almost read her mind. She's probably contemplating what else she could lose and get paid for losing it!

Losing a tooth can leave a tender spot where the tooth once was, so a cold, sweet treat can be very soothing. A smoothie should do the trick. Here are a few good ones.
