Road work for the week of Aug. 5
BENNINGTON — The next phase of PFOA water line extension work has begun, the Bennington Department of Public Works has announced. Willow Road will be affected this week, and further closings will be announced, the DPW said. The following projects are scheduled for this week:
Lincoln Street sidewalk continues to be closed from River Street to County Street. Highway crews are continuing sidewalk and curbing work. Workers and equipment will be in and on the edge of the roadway. Motorists should use caution when approaching the area and expect delays.
River Street from Benmont Avenue to Lincoln Street continues to be closed to through traffic while several crews work on its rehabilitation. Local traffic only will be accommodated. Workers and equipment will be in the roadway. Motorists should find an alternative route.
Whipstock Road will be closed all week to through traffic while a highway crew replaces a culvert and prepares for paving. Local traffic only will be accommodated. Workers and equipment will be in the roadway. Motorists should find an alternative route.

Motorists should be aware that a number of townwide projects, including safety lines and crosswalk repaintings, weed trimming, roadside mowing and manhole reconstruction, are taking place at various locations across town.
All work will be dependent on weather conditions.
