Chicken Pie Supper and more at St. Peter's

The Annual Chicken Pie Supper is today at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. The seatings are at 3 p.m. or 5:30 p.m., so come join us for a meal prepared by the parishioners of St. Peter's.

Rev. Justin Lanier of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Bennington, invites people of all faiths or those in search of faith to join us in our service of Christ and of each other. On this Sunday, Oct. 1, the seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost, Rev. Lanier will lead Holy Eucharist at the 8 a.m. service, using Rite I (traditional language) of the Book of Common Prayer. At the 10 a.m. service, Rev. Lanier will lead Holy Eucharist, using Rite II (contemporary language) of the Book of Common Prayer. St. Peter's Choir will be lead by our Organist and Choir Director John Riddle. The gospel is Matthew 21: 23-32. A Healing Service will follow both the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. liturgy.

The Fundraising Committee will meet today in the office following the 10 a.m. service. The Knitting Group will resume its monthly meeting in the Guild Room following the 10 a.m. service.

On Wednesday, Oct. 4, Evening Prayer will be said from 5 to 5:30 p.m., followed by Contemplative Prayer from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

There will be no liturgy on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. However, there will be Morning Prayer on Thursday, October 12, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel. The Lunch Bunch will also meet next week, Oct. 12, after the 10 a.m. service.

The Adult Formation Group will meet at a date and time to be announced.

World Communion Sunday observed

All are invited to the Welcome Table at Second Congregational Church this Sunday morning, on World Communion Sunday. Worship begins at 10 a.m. for the whole church family, and following a Time for the Children in All of Us, children up through grade 5 are invited to A Joyful Path. Nursery care is provided. The Second Congo Choir, under the direction of Music Director Matt Edwards, sings Pepper Choplin's "One World, One Communion." Rev. Mary Lee-Clark's sermon, based on the reading from Philippians 2, is titled, "Empty Enough to Be Filled," and all are invited to join in the celebration of Holy Communion.

A time of fellowship and refreshment for the whole church family follows in Webster Hall.

World Communion Sunday at the Federated Church

On this World Communion Sunday a warm welcome is extended to one and all to join in the 10:00 a.m. Service of Worship and celebration of Holy Communion at the Federated Church of East Arlington. This Sunday's message from the Rev. Kathy draws inspiration from Matthew 21: 23-32 and is titled, "Says Who?" The children will be using art this Sunday as they continue to explore the topic of Creation based on the first 2 chapters of Genesis. Everyone is encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for the Arlington Food Shelf and for the month of October toiletries (shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, razors, etc...) will be gathered for the Bennington County Coalition for the Homeless. Plan to stay after worship for refreshments and fellowship in Bailey Hall.

On Monday, October 2 the community is invited to a potluck supper at 6:00 p.m. and then to be in dialogue beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Bailey Hall here at the Federated Church, complete with questions and answers with Moina Shaiq on the topic of Islam and her life as a Muslim woman in this country. Moina comes from Fremont, California and has offered her program, Meet a Muslim, around her home state and the United States with this being her only Vermont location.

Worship at the Congregational Church

The North Bennington Congregational Church welcomes everyone to its 11 a.m. Worship Service on this World Communion Sunday led by Rev. Penny Rich Smith. The Meditation, "Who's the Boss?", will be based on Exodus 17:1-7 and Matthew 21:23-32. Holy Communion will be celebrated. There will be a children's time, after which Sunday School classes will meet for pre-school through grade 9.

Following the service, all are invited to stay for coffee hour and a time of fellowship. The church is located at 8 Bank St. and is wheelchair accessible from the back door at the parsonage driveway. For more information, call the church office at 802-442-5161.


First Baptist Hoosick Falls Installs Rev. David Hall

The First Baptist Church of Hoosick Falls congregation extends an invitation to all to attend the Installation Service of Rev. David Hall on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Dave began serving our Church on June 1st. He has previously served the Buskirk Dutch Reformed Church, the First Baptist Church of Hoosick, and taught at Grace Christian School.
