Prospective students welcome to explore Bennington College

BENNINGTON— Local high school students preparing to make the big decision about what college to attend are welcome to join other prospective students, their families, and the college campus community for a full-day tour and learning experience at Bennington College.

BenningtonWorks, to be held Sunday, Oct. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., seeks to give prospective students an idea of what Bennington College has to offer. Each attendee can tailor the day to their specific interests; they can engage with current students completing projects on a range of topics such as science, dance, writing, theater, and more. These projects have been a work-in-progress all semester and gives college students a chance to share their hard work with potential new students.

Prospective students can also take guided tours of the campus and address concerns about admissions, financial aid, college readiness, and more at Q&A sessions.

Thanks to the Vermont Leaders Scholarship Program, Bennington College automatically awards a $40,000 scholarship to admitted Vermont students. This scholarship is split up into $10,000 awards for each undergraduate semester.

"This open house will give a window into our students' education, in process: how the collaborate, how they work with faculty members, how they receive feedback, and how they develop the work and the practice that they will take out into the world," said Bennington College President Mariko Silver. "This event will give high school students a sense of how they can actively shape their own educations, so they are best prepared to enter a fast-changing world and remake it as they want it to be."
