BENNINGTON — A suspect armed with a crowbar entered the Arlington Stewart's and demanded money from employees before running away from the scene Wednesday night, Vermont State Police say.

Police say they responded to the Stewart's around 11 p.m. for a report of an active armed robbery at the store located on Route 7A. Witnesses described the suspect as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, 150 pounds, wearing a black Carhartt jacket, light blue jeans, black gloves, a light brown hat, and scarf or some type of black mask, police say. Police also believe the suspect is a female, according to witness statements.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived and witnesses say the suspect was headed north on Route 7A

Police are assessing damage done to the store and will determine if any loss occurred. No one was injured during this incident.

Vermont State Troopers, Manchester Police and Bennington Police responded to the scene.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Detective Sgt. James Wright of the Vermont State Police.
