Planning for 2018 local Night to Shine underway

North Pownal Congregational Church announced on Tuesday that it will again serve as a local host of the Night to Shine event. The event is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation and held at more than 450 churches around the country, simultaneously on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018. Night to Shine is described as "an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God's love, for people with special needs, ages 14 and older."

The event is now worldwide and set to take place next year in all 50 states and 15 countries around the world. The event continues to grow.

North Pownal Congregational Church hosted the first local Night to Shine this year on Feb. 10 at Grace Christian School. This local event is well-documented by a special Facebook page and YouTube video. It will again be held at Grace Christian next year.

Every guest of Night to Shine enters this complimentary event on a red carpet complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi. Once inside, guests receive the royal treatment, including hair and makeup stations, shoe shining areas, limousine rides, corsages and boutonnieres, a catered dinner, karaoke, prom favors for each honored guest, a Respite Room for parents and caretakers and, of course, a dance floor. All of this leads up to the moment when each guest is crowned king or queen of the prom.
