Pinkus leads BBA past Rutland

MANCHESTER — The Burr and Burton girls soccer team came back in the second half to top Rutland, 2-1, on Friday.

Rutland scored first in the second half on a goal by Kendra Sabotka, assisted by Logan Kinsman.

Burr and Burton tied it seven minutes later to make it 1-1, Grace Pinkus scoring with an assist from Rebecca Montaufray.

Pinkus scored again from about 30 yards out a couple minutes later for the eventual game-winner.

Sam Citron played in net and had seven saves.

BBA field hockey tops Otters

BRANDON — The Burr and Burton field hockey team beat Otter Valley, 1-0, on the road on Friday.

With 5:07 remaining in the opening half, Sabina Buffa scored with assists from Hannah Hedberg and Nelly Hollweg on a penalty corner.

Hannah Callen had five saves for BBA.

"Our defenders were tough in our circle and Hannah Callen made some tough saves, particularly in the second half of the game. The offense was able to convert on one of our 8 corners, which proved to be enough to come away with the win," said BBA coach Barb Miceli. BBA is now 5-3-2.

Bulldogs crush Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY — Jay McCoy racked up more than 400 yards of offense in a 36-7 rout of Middlebury on Friday night.

The Bulldogs have won five in a row after an opening night loss and are 5-1.

MAU field hockey falls to Bratt

BENNINGTON — The Mount Anthony field hockey team lost to Brattleboro 3-1 on Thursday.

Molly Cohen got the Patriots on the board with two minutes left in the first. Brattleboro tied the game soon after and took the lead in the second half.They then got their third goal in the second half.

MAU plays at Hartford on Tuesday.

MAYAA registration

BENNINGTON — The Mount Anthony Youth Athletic Association will host a pair of registration nights for its basketball program.

The two in-person registrations will take place on Nov. 7 and Nov. 9 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Bennington Elementary School.

The board will be at the registrations for parents to ask questions.

Registration is already online at and will be until Nov. 3. The cost is $40 per child or $70 per family.

MAYAA is for kids from grades 1 to 6.

Track and Treat Halloween Fun Run in North Bennington

NORTH BENNINGTON — The Village School of North Bennington is hosting a 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, Oct 28. There will also be an Obstacle/Adventure Course available for the younger children. Registration is at 8 a.m. with the Family Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk at 9:30 A.M.. 5K Pre-registration is $20, day of race is $25; Family Fun Run $10.
