Old Mill Road Media acquires Vermont News Guide

MANCHESTER — Old Mill Road Media, LLC has acquired the Vermont News Guide, adding the weekly paper to "its family of publications," according to an announcement in the Guide's Sept. 10 issue.

The East Arlington-based company now publishes Vermont Magazine, Stratton Magazine and Manchester Life Magazine. It "plans on packaging its subscriptions and advertising opportunities in order to assist businesses in communicating their messages statewide," according to the announcement.

Joshua Sherman, M.D., a principal of Old Mill Road, now appears on the Guide's masthead as its publisher. In a phone interview Monday, he confirmed that Old Mill Road purchased the Guide but declined to specify a price.

"We believe connecting the Vermont News Guide with our current publications will benefit both our readers and advertisers," Sherman said in the announcement.

Martin Hersam, CEO of Hersam Acorn Newspapers, which previously published the Guide, could not be reached for comment. In the Guide's announcement, Hersam called the news "an exciting new chapter" for existing Guide staff "and this storied publication."

The Guide "currently reaches over 15,000 readers," according to the announcement. Its employees "are joining the existing team" at Old Mill Road.

The masthead of the Sept. 10 issue, compared with the previous week's issue, includes nine new names and titles, including Marcia Lissak as C.E.O.
