O'Brien shines in MAU win against BBA

BENNINGTON — The Mount Anthony softball team cruised to a 15-0 win against rival Burr and Burton at home Friday.

Emilie O'Brien started on the mound for MAU, going all five innings. She struck out five and allowed just two hits and one walk in her outing.

O'Brien had a big day at the plate as well with a home run and two runs batted in.

Keana Gauthier went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Patriots.

Danielle Moscarello hit a home run for MAU.

MAU improves to 9-1 on the season and plays Brattleboro at home today at 5.

Rutland edges BBA

RUTLAND — The Burr and Burton girls tennis team lost both doubles matches and that was the difference in its 4-3 loss to Rutland Thursday.

BBA picked up wins at No. 1, 2 and 3 singles.

At No. 1, Hannah Hedberg topped Rutland's Gaby Chadwick 6-4, 6-3.

BBA's Chloe MacDonald had a close match with her opponent, but pulled out a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles.

At No. 3 singles, Sarah Asciutto cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over the Raiders' Shannon Wathelet.

The Bulldogs dropped the other four matches they played with each loss coming in a three-set tiebreak.

BBA drops to 2-4 on the season. The Bulldogs next match is against Springfield at the Equinox on Tuesday.

Pickleball in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. — If you like to play ping-pong, tennis, racquetball, squash or badminton then you will like the fun and fast growing game of pickleball.

Come to the CCS gym on Friday evenings from 6-8pm and on Sundays from 12-2.

Bring sneakers and wear clothes you like to move around in. There will be racquets to borrow.

Support National Pickleball month and come and learn to play the game at CCS. Ages 16 + are welcome.
