NORTH HOOSICK, N.Y. — The North Hoosick Volunteer Fire Department held a BBQ fundraiser on Saturday.

The event began at 5 p.m. on Saturday, where members of the fire department handed out BBQ chicken in paper bags in a drive-thru style manner. They sold all 350 meals before 5 p.m., raising $4,200. According to North Hoosick Fire Chief Alan Bornt, the money will be used "for whatever we need it for."

Those who pre-ordered a meal drove to the fire station, presented the ticket they received at one table and were given their meals by the firefighters at another table. Everyone was wearing masks and social distancing measures were in place to ensure the meals were distributed in a safe manner. There were about 10 members of the fire department volunteering their time to hand out the meals.

This isn't the first time they have put on the BBQ fundraiser according to Bornt, who said they did the exact fundraiser a few months ago. They sold out that time, too.

Bornt said that they will hold another BBQ fundraiser in September.
