New deputy state's attorney joins Bennington office

BENNINGTON— The Bennington County State's Attorney Office has a new deputy state's attorney.

Kirsten Morgan was sworn in to the Vermont Bar of Attorneys on Oct. 18, 2018 and started last week at the State's Attorney Office.

Originally from southern Illinois, Morgan moved to Buffalo, N.Y. a few years ago to receive her undergraduate degree at the University of Buffalo. She then attended Vermont Law School, receiving a Master of Environmental Law and Policy degree.

Morgan previously spent a summer clerking at the Vermont Attorney General's Office. She partially decided to move to Vermont because of her love for the outdoors; she loves skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer.

Morgan will begin her career by handling misdemeanor matters, learning the ropes in a busy prosecutor's office, and finding what area of criminal justice specifically interests her.

"I am passionate about seeking justice and protecting vulnerable members of our society," she said. "That is why I applied to work at the Bennington County State's Attorney's Office, and why I am thrilled about this great opportunity."
