Stratton's Holscher going to Junior Worlds
STRATTON — Stratton Mountain School Alpine athlete Diego Holscher is off to the FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships in Val di Fassa, Trentino, Italy to represent his home country, Chile, for the second time.
Holscher is a member of Chilean National Ski Team, and will compete against some of the world's best U20 Alpine Skiers in disciplines including Downhill, Super-G, Alpine Combined, Giant Slalom, and Slalom between February 18 and 27, 2019.
"This will be Diego's second appearance at World Junior Championships, and over the years he has become comfortable competing in Europe and is familiar with his international peer group," said SMS Alpine Director Mike Morin. "We work cooperatively with the Chilean National team and they will be looking after him while he is in Europe this time around. It is great to have this relationship of the athletes moving back and forth from the home program to the national team and back. Last year Diego was able to get on the U18 podium in SG, and we feel this year he will be competitive in all four disciplines."
