Minutemen juniors, seniors both win opener
Carter Thompson and Tanner Bushee led the way on offense, with Bushee grinding out yards and first downs and Thompson finishing drives scoring three touchdowns. Kaiden Mailhot added another touchdown and Bushee hit Cash Campolungo for a 2-point conversion to make it 26-0 at the half. A great team defensive effort kept Mechanicville out of Bennington territory all day.
The third and fourth grade Junior team also won 19-0. Asa Reis lead the way with three touchdowns. Carter Tifft and Peyton Miller both had good days on offense running the ball. Andrew Morin played really well at center especially with the ball being really wet from the conditions. The defense played an excellent game with the shutout and hardly any forward progress. Tyson Burgess and Connor Bailey were very disruptive on the defensive line.
The Minutemen will play again this Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1pm at the MAU Middle School against Brunswick.
The flag teams had good days this weekend as well. Team 1 played to a 21-21 tie against Hoosick Falls.
Sawyer Tatro had a nice quarterback keeper for about 40 yards for a touchdown. Asher West finished the game with two touchdowns. Rylann Davis was a disruptive force breaking through the line of Hoosick Falls, consistently disrupting plays in the backfield.
Team 2 won 35-14 over Hoosick Falls. Talin Bartholdi ran for two 80-yard runs. Carson Kenyon made some nice defensive plays and Reno Jarvis had a nice touchdown catch. Jeremiah Cooks had pressure in the back field all day.
Both Flag teams are playing Manchester in Manchester next Saturday at 10 a.m.
