Minutemen improve to 2-0

BENNINGTON — The Senior Bennington Minutemen Team continued to show explosiveness as they rolled to a 39-7 win over Brunswick and move to 2-0 on the season.

Tanner Bushee led the offense with another good day running for chunks of yardage and three first half touchdowns. Carter Thompson continued to impress with a long first quarter run that set up the second score. Thompson also added a defensive touchdown intercepting a pass and returning it 40 yards for a TD.

In the second quarter, Cash Campolungo broke free for the longest play of the day for Bennington, exploding through the middle of Brunswick's defense for a 50-yard touchdown run. Bushee hit Kyler Cross for a 2 point conversion making the score 32-0 at half.

Dreland Carey led a nice drive in the fourth quarter and ran in the final touchdown of the day as well as the extra point to finish out the scoring, 39-7. The Senior Minutemen will play again at Hudson Falls next Sunday at 11 a.m.

The Junior team won 27-0 to move to 2-0 on the season. Asa Reiss and Ryan Marsden had two touchdowns each, and Carter Tifft made several good runs on offense. Another excellent showing from the defense shutting out Brunswick for their second straight shutout of the season. Aiden Lacasse, Peyton Miller, and Conner Bailey all had interceptions. The Juniors are on a bye week next week.


Flag Teams

Team 1 played Manchester this weekend. The final score was another 18-18 tie. Raymond Granger filled in beautifully at center helping the offense run smoothly. He also played corner shutting down the outside turning the running backs into the middle time and time again. Sawyer Tatro seems to have the fake handoff down breaking to the outside he was able to scramble for a 40 yard touchdown. With excellent blocking from the front line Asher West was able to break outside for 2 long touchdowns.

Team 2 won 30 - 12. Talin Bartholdi had 4 touchdowns and another solid game. Maverick Pratt had a nice long touchdown. Connor marsh had a couple nice plays on offense an defense. Breakout player of the week Adrian Coulter had very nice 45 yard run. Both flag teams play at Brunswick next Saturday.
