MAU Drama Club presents Tony Award Winning Musical
Brimming with catchy songs and lyrics, interesting characters, and unique sets, Into the Woods is sure to entertain people of all ages. The musical interweaves the plots and characters of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales including "Little Red Riding Hood," "Jack and the Beanstalk," "Rapunzel," and "Cinderella." It follows the Baker and his wife who wish for a child, Cinderella who wishes to go to the King's Festival, Jack who wishes his cow would give some milk. When the Baker and his wife are visited by the neighborhood witch, who reveals to them that she placed a curse on their family, the two set off on a journey into the woods to reverse the curse. There they encounter other fairy tale characters we learn the consequences of their actions and wishes.
The MAU Drama Club is a very active group of talented and creative students. They produce at least 3 shows each year. Club members are involved in all other aspects of theater including set construction, costumes, props, sound, and lights. MAU Drama Club's advisers Tim Foley and Lynn Sweet have a long track record of outstanding past productions including Pippin, Beauty and the Beast, Dracula, Romeo and Juliet, The Sound of Music, Noises off, The Aadams Family, and many more.
Show times are at Nov. 2,3,4 (Thursday through Saturday) at 7 p.m., with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4. Tickets ($8) are on sale now and can be purchased at the MAU main office or at the door. These always popular musicals sell out quickly, so get your tickets early.
