MANCHESTER — A local dental office has changed hands, with one dentist departing the area while another has hung out his shingle.

Dr. Anita Masaitis announced her departure Dec. 26 in a written statement posted on the Manchester Dental Group website. In that message, she also announced that Dr. Pierre Morin would take over the practice with a change in the practice's name.

Masaitis, whose dental practice was located at 39 Elm St. in Manchester for the past five years, announced that her journey through life would be taking her away from Manchester.

"I have made the decision to return West and back to public health, as this is where my heart lives," Masaitis wrote.

Masaitis, who worked in the public health sector before moving to Vermont, explained in her letter to the Manchester community that she moved to Vermont to care for her handicapped brother, who passed away shortly after she relocated.

In her statement, Masaitis expressed gratitude for the time she has spent with her colleagues, coworkers and valued patients.

While Masaitis is no longer practicing in the area, the dental practice will continue, in the same location, under the name of Manchester Dental Group with Morin taking over as the new dentist.

"I am pleased to welcome and introduce Pierre Morin, DMD, as the new practice associate," Masaitis's statement read. "I know that you will be exceptionally well cared for by Dr. Morin and I feel confident leaving you in his capable hands."

Morin worked at Union Street Dental in Bennington before taking over Masaitis's practice three weeks ago.

According to the Manchester Dental Group's website, Morin "is a comprehensive general dentist with extensive experience spanning 25 years within the international dental industry."

"The staff you have come to know and love will remain here working with (Morin) at Manchester Dental Group," Masaitis wrote. "They look forward to seeing you at your next visit."

Existing appointments with Masaitis will be provided by Morin while all of Masaitis's patient dental records are on file at the office.

Under Morin, the practice's business hours have been extended, digital communication with patients is being expanded and new services like extractions and dental implants have been added.

The dentist office is still a fee-for-service business, meaning patients pay at the time of their service. After payment, the office submits the invoice to the patient's insurance company which, depending upon coverage, may be reimbursed.

If Masaitis's patients would like to get in touch with her, they can leave letters at the dental office.

Kimberly Davis, the office manager, will forward all correspondence on to Masaitis but the office cannot give out her personal contact information.

If anyone has questions regarding their dental records with Masaitis or would like more information about Morin's expanded dental services and hours, they can contact Manchester Dental Group at 802-362-3636 or visit their new website at
