Manchester Community Library
Earth Matters, Transition Town Manchester, and Manchester Community Library present HOPE for the Future: Improving Food Production and Realistic Solutions to Climate Change. Two powerful short films will be shown, followed by discussion. Nourish: Food and Community illustrates how what we choose to eat- individually and as a society- has an effect around the world, and how making more wholesome choices can improve the health of the environment, our communities, and ourselves. Joanna Macy and the Great Turning explores "The Great Turning," the third major revolution of human existence after the agricultural and industrial revolutions, based on an extensive interview with well-known writer, teacher, and activist Joanna Macy. Illustrated with beautiful footage shot around the world, the film is at once sobering, insightful, and inspiring. The Great Turning is ultimately a call to take part in this new “great adventure” in order to help create a more life-sustaining world.
