Man stabs self in Shaftsbury cemetery


SHAFTSBURY — Vermont State Police responded to a report of a man who stabbed himself in the chest at Waite Cemetery in Shaftsbury Wednesday afternoon, police say.

The man, who is believed to be in his 50s, was transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening, said VSP Sgt. Seth Loomis.

Police say no further information will be released on this incident as it is a mental health matter.
