BENNINGTON — Sunrise Family Resource Center, Bennington County's Parent Child Center, has been awarded $6,000 from the Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services Human Services and Educational Facilities Grant. This grant, which requires a one-to-one match, will be used to make safety enhancements and improvements to the early childhood playground.

Sunrise's early childhood program is licensed to serve 21 children age 6 weeks up to 2 years. It is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children and has a five-star rating with Vermont's Step Ahead Recognition System.

The grant will be used to set a new foundation for the playground space including new walkways and fresh sod. Long-term plans for the playground include an arbor swing, an outdoor art easel, children's picnic table and installation of a mud kitchen.
