To the Editor:

One of us spoke strongly in favor of wearing masks at the Selectboard meeting where this issue was first voted on, and were delighted when the Selectboard voted to approve that policy. So we are both shocked and disgusted to learn from several recent letters to the Banner about how many people are NOT abiding by this easy way to keep us all safe and the municipal requirement to wear masks in public.

We have been wondering whether it might be safe to go shopping locally in person, but it appears it isn't. We will be doing all of our shopping online or by delivery and going elsewhere until we can be assured that everyone cares enough to keep our community healthy. We will not shop at any local stores which do not insist that no customer can enter without wearing a mask, correctly, and keep it on while shopping.

We feel badly that we will not be supporting our local economy, but don't believe that principle is worth dying for.
