Letter: Warm The Children deserves your help

To the Editor:

The "Warm The Children" program is sponsored by the Bennington Banner, Shea Funeral Homes, Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Services, the American Red Cross and other generous contributors from the community. This is my third year volunteering to take children and their parents shopping at J.C. Penney's for much needed winter clothing. I would especially like to commend the J.C. Penney staff for their outstanding assistance. The staff have always gone out of their way to be helpful, finding just the right size or item and always patient assisting at the register, which takes a little while — listing and adding everything up. The staff are always nice to the families and myself, no matter how busy they are.

It is quite amazing to see the amount of clothing items that can be purchased, with items on sale and JCP's additional discount for the program. Children go home with a warm winter coat, snow pants, boots, new hoodies, socks, sneakers, mittens, hats, PJs, whatever is needed and can be included in the allotted amount.

Please consider a contribution to this wonderful program. There is always information in the Bennington Banner. Knowing that at least some children will be warmer in Vermont's cold winter is a heart-warming feeling.
