Letter: Thanks for providing opportunities for students

To the Editor:

I'd like to take this opportunity to once again thank the wonderful members of this community for putting time and energy into hosting the Mount Anthony Union High School Community Service and Field Study students last semester. These folks commit themselves to providing our students with meaningful work and volunteer experiences that not only leave lasting impressions, but help them determine their future career paths. Here is some of what the students had to say about their experiences:

" This was a great experience I will never forget. I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed and appreciated having this opportunity . Mrs. Gorry was the first teacher I had when I moved to Vermont, and she helped me learn and adjust to my new surroundings. To me, it seems only fitting that I finish my time in Vermont giving back a little bit of the help she gave me back then."

"That's when I learned that there had to be order and good communication for things to run smoothly I loved the relationships I made with the other workers and volunteers as they were all friendly and we helped one another."

"The immersion into my site has taught me a lot about myself and my work skills. This experience helped me gain perspective on what I want to choose for a career."

Clearly, the experiences these students have and the relationships they build are opportunities to help shape their lives and support their development into responsible young adults. I am proud to be a part of this program and community and am honored to be able to work with these ambitious students and altruistic adults. My heartfelt thanks to the fall 2017 area businesses below:
