Letter: How the system works

To the Editor:

Now do you understand how a republic works? Even though the overwhelming number of people were in favor of Act 46 the "electoral college" said otherwise and a total of six votes killed the merger. Strange how that works. Now the legislature has a decision to make: They can either take the majority opinion, as they did in the middle school vote even though it was said that all districts must vote in the affirmative (Pownal also said no then and it was still built). Or they can opt to write a book called "What Happened" or go out and yell at the moon and see if that helps. Time will tell. Ask Hillary what the best solution is.

I voted in favor of the bill but will stand by the results of the Pownal voters, at least we all had a say.
