Letter: Heroes among us

To the Editor:

It's none too early to be thanking and praising those in essential services who are keeping things working here in southern Vermont. While many of us have the luxury of staying at home, these folks — who no doubt share the same anxieties that we all feel — are out and about making sure that the needs of citizens in Bennington County are met.

Kudos to the farmers, grocers, gas station attendants, postal and delivery drivers, utility crews, first responders and public safety officers, journalists, public school teachers providing day care for children, those working behind the scenes to make meals available for those in need, and many others not listed who are contributing to the cause. And prime among them are our physicians, nurses and hospital/nursing home employees battling this war on the front lines. Lots of heroic efforts for which we are all grateful. Let's be sure to keep all these very good people in our thoughts and prayers.

Dave Low,
