To the Editor:This is a small expression of gratitude given to everyone in this wonderful community and beyond, for the compassion shown the Peat and Thurber families during our time of profound grief at the loss of our beloved Jonathan.Thank you to the Bennington Rescue Squad. Your professional staff provided Jon with the best possible emergency medical attention. Your efforts revived Jon and allowed his family and friends time to say goodbye.Thank you to MedFlight and the neurosurgical ICU at Albany Medical Center, and the doctors and nursing staff, especially Angela, who comforted and kept our families informed every step of the way. Thank you to E.P. Mahar and Son Funeral Home. Your empathy and patience allowed us to handle an impossible situation with grace. Many thanks to Father Bob Wiseman for conducting a beautiful service at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church. Thank you to the Bennington Elks Lodge 567 for hosting a celebration of Jon's life. Paul Coyne and Ryan Nolan deserve a special "shout-out" for their organizing efforts and generously giving their time.Lastly, we would like to thank all those who provided lawn care, food supplies, gifts, donations, flowers, Mass and sympathy cards.
