Letter: Electoral College protects small states
To the Editor:
As a followup to last week's letter, I misspoke. Vermont has three electoral votes. Vermont's population is half of either Maine or New Hampshire, yet they have just four electoral votes each. All three states are considered small population states. Combined we have 11 of the 538 Electoral College votes.
Our combined population is approximately 1 percent of the United States population. But combined, our Electoral College vote equals 2 percent of the votes. We need the Electoral College to protect Vermont and all small states. Without it, there would not have been the signing of our Constitution and the creation of the greatest country on earth.
