To the Editor:

The Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union would like to remind residents of Bennington, Pownal, Shaftsbury, and Woodford to vote on the budget of the Southwest Vermont Union Elementary School District on Tuesday, June 11. The budget is a combination of the four district budgets that were put together by district boards and the SVSU finance office and were approved by voters in March.

The budget's impact on the homestead property tax rate is currently projected as a 1.04-cent increase in Bennington, a 1.62-cent decrease in Pownal, a 1.95-cent increase in Shaftsbury, and a 2.21-cent increase in Woodford. These numbers refer to tax rate per $100 in appraised property value, and could change depending on action taken in the Vermont Legislature. The budget represents an increase in expenditures of 5.64 percent over the combined FY19 Bennington, Pownal, Shaftsbury and Woodford budgets.

Voting locations are as follows. Please note that not all polling times and locations are the same as they were for the March elections. Please contact your town clerk for more information.

- Residents from Bennington School District, Inc. vote at the Bennington Fire House, River Street, Bennington, Vermont. Polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
