Last soccer referee training set for Saturday

LUDLOW — Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Vermont Soccer Officials Association and becoming eligible to officiate Varsity soccer games is encouraged to attend the last remaining training session in Southern Vermont.

The last referee training will be at White River Unified High School in South Royalton, on August 24 at 8:30 a.m.

The training includes learning the rules of the game, a test, and a field practice. You also receive follow up support and a mentor. The cost of the program is $75, which includes the cost of the membership in the VSOA for this year, the training, and insurance.

Sage boys basketball clinic

ALBANY, N.Y. — Sage College is hosting a Columbus Day basketball clinic for boys on October 14.

The clinic is open to boys aged 10 to 17.

There is free early drop off and late pick up options available.

Ski World Cup tickets

KILLINGTON — Tickets for the 2019 Killington Audi FIS Women's Ski World Cup are on sale now, giving winter sports fans the opportunity to see U.S. Ski Team athletes and Olympic medalists racing at Vermont's Killington Resort.

Olympic and World Champion Mikaela Shiffrin will be among those racing at Killington this Thanksgiving weekend.

Along with the ticketed seating, Killington will once again offer free access for spectators.

U-16 Greylock Thunder softball

ADAMS, Mass. — The Under-16 Greylock Thunder travel softball team fall ball registration is open now and runs until Sunday.

There will be a in-person registration on August 25 from 9-11 a.m. at Russell Field with U-16 coaches.

The Greylock Thunder fall ball program is open to all players from any league that doesn't offer a similar program or that are looking for a different softball experience.

This is a great opportunity to just play softball to help stay in the game or for preparing yourself for the upcoming 2020 Summer Travel/Tournament Season.

Players interested in playing summer travel ball are welcome as well.

There is an $80 fee to play.

Hoyt Charity Golf Tournament

MANCHESTER — The 28th Annual Win Hoyt Charity Golf Tournament will be held Wednesday, September 18 at the Ekwanok Country Club.

Registration opens at 11 a.m., lunch is at 12 p.m. and players tee off at 12:30 p.m.

The tournament is named in memory of Win Hoyt, a long-time Manchester resident and former Director of the Chamber.

In 1970, Win took over the Caddie Scholarship Program at Ekwanok and provided leadership until his death in 1989.

Proceeds will be divided equally between Bennington County Habitat for Humanity and the Manchester Community Library.

Cost to play is $150; sponsorship opportunities are available at different levels.
