Hoosick Falls woman killed in motorcycle crash
HOOSICK, N.Y. — A Hoosick Falls woman was killed in a motorcycle accident on Clay Hill Road on Tuesday evening, police say.
Mary Eddy, 66, was a passenger on a 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Kirk Vonhaggin, 55, also of Hoosick Falls. Vonhaggin was traveling northeast on Clay Hill Road when the motorcycle struck a deer that had entered the roadway, according to a media release from Troop G of the New York State Police.
Both Eddy and Vonhaggin were thrown from the motorcycle on impact.
Eddy was pronounced dead at the scene. Vonhaggin was transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment. State police responded to the scene at about 8:22 p.m., according to the release.
Vonhaggin's injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening, said Investigator Alexander Hyra of the New York State Police when reached Wednesday.
Several uniformed troopers and emergency medical services personnel responded to the scene, including those from the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad and Mohawk Ambulance, Hyra said.
The crash is under investigation.
