Hoosick Falls boys soccer falls to Corinth

CORINTH, N.Y. — The No. 10 seed Hoosick Falls boys soccer team fell 2-1 to No. 7 Corinth in Class CC sectional play on Tuesday.

Michael Wickham scored both goals for the Tomahawks, to give them a 2-0 lead while David Everard tallied for Hoosick Falls with about 15 minutes left.

Cody Hodges made seven stops for the Panthers, who finish the year at 3-14.

Patriots shut out Brattleboro

BRATTLEBORO — The Mount Anthony girls soccer team shut out Brattleboro on the road Tuesday, winning 2-0.

Jordan Mattison scored the first goal of the contest for the Patriots early in the first half with Kaity O'Brien assisting on the play. Avery Galle added the insurance goal for MAU late in the first half with Antonia Pellon assisting on the play.

Maddy Breese made seven saves in goal for the Patriots.

The win improves MAU to 7-5 on the season and they will play their last game on Thursday when they travel to play Fair Haven on the road.

Bulldogs fall to Bellows Falls

MANCHESTER — The Burr and Burton field hockey team started off strong in its matchup with Bellows Falls Tuesday in Manchester when Sabina Buffa scored a goal a little over a minute into the contest and the Bulldogs even went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The second half proved to be a completely different game for BBA though, as the Terriers were in control throughout. Bellows Falls' Molly Kelly scored just 1:13 into the half and the Terriers would not look back from there adding four more goals to top the Bulldogs 5-1.

BBA goalie Hannah Callen had 11 saves for the Bulldogs in the contest.

The loss was BBA's final home game of the season. They fall to 6-5-2 on the season and will travel to Brattleboro for their regular season finale Saturday.

Hat trick for Pinkus

RUTLAND — The Pinkus sisters led the way for the Burr and Burton girls soccer team Tuesday as the Bulldogs topped Rutland 6-2 on the road.

Grace Pinkus got the scoring going for BBA with a goal with just eight seconds remaining in the first half. Pinkus would add a pair of goals in the second half to complete the hat trick.

Hannah Pinkus, Olivia Wantanabe and Rebecca Montefray all added goals for the Bulldogs as well.

MVL Championships

WESTMINSTER — Runners from the local high schools competed in the the MVL Cross Country Championships Tuesday. Shawn Tobin was the top finisher for the Mount Anthony boys, placing 6th with a time of 17:18. Tobin was followed by Evan Page (8th) 17:27, Asa Burrows-Crane (12th) 17:55, Matthew Longtin (21st) 18:20 and Anthony Mazzola (22nd) 18:24.

The Patriots girls were paced by Sarah Umphlett who finished 3rd with a time of 19:55. She was followed by Paige Greenawalt (6th) 20:38, Maggie Payne (7th) 20:44, Sarahi VillaArreguin (19th) 22:12 and Lauren Johnson (28th) 22:59.

Tyler Jager was the top finisher for the Burr and Burton boys, placing 19th with a time of 18:14. He was followed by Colin Sullivan (35th) 19:17, Joe Sogno (36th) 19:18, Sean Foley (45th) 19:47 and Boden Morris (47th) 19:49.

The Bulldogs girls were led by Emma Tschaikowsky who placed 12th with a time of 21:28. She was followed by Harriet Dahlstrom (16th) 21:51, Maggie Brown (17th) 22:05, Susanne Allen (24th) 22:41 and Nina Marco (38th) 24:47.

MAYAA registration

BENNINGTON — The Mount Anthony Youth Athletic Association will host a pair of registration nights for its basketball program.

The two in-person registrations will take place on Nov. 7 and Nov. 9 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Bennington Elementary School.

The board will be at the registrations for parents to ask questions.

Registration is already online at www.mayaabasketball.com and will be until Nov. 3. The cost is $40 per child or $70 per family.

MAYAA is for kids from grades 1 to 6.

Track and Treat Halloween Fun Run in North Bennington

NORTH BENNINGTON — The Village School of North Bennington is hosting a 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, Oct 28. There will also be an Obstacle/Adventure Course available for the younger children. Registration is at 8 a.m. with the Family Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk at 9:30 A.M.. 5K Pre-registration is $20, day of race is $25; Family Fun Run $10.

Participants are encouraged to dress in costume and prizes will be given! Bring the entire family to the Village School of North Bennington for a fun morning.
