HFCS staff invites community to free Family Fun & Food Day
HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. — The teachers and staff at Hoosick Falls Central School (HFCS) are excited to invite the community to a Free Family Fun and Food Day on Monday, Oct. 15, from 2 to 7 p.m., at the school. The event will take place rain or shine. Parents should note that Monday, Oct. 15, is a Superintendent's Conference Day and students will not have school on that day.
"Family Fun and Food Day comes out of our desire to connect with the parents of our students and the entire HFCS community," said Jennifer McDonald, a high school social studies teacher. "We wanted to have this free event to welcome everyone to a new school year and so that our community can get to know the staff at HFCS a little better. We have a lot of talented people here with a variety of interests and we wanted to share that with everyone."
The day will feature an assortment of tasty cookout food, a raffle, and family-friendly activities such as mini-pumpkin painting, creating beaded bracelets, supervised nature walks, rock painting, knitting, and a chance to try out yoga, Tai Chi, archery, or other physical activities. There will be games to play and representatives of each school club will be there to share a little about each club. Families can have a family photo portrait taken and, as an added bonus, they can meet and interact with HFCS' therapy dog Pride and some of the horses used in the equine learning program.
HFCSD will provide bus transportation during the event, at 2 p.m. (dropoff); 5 p.m. (dropoff and return) and at the event's end at 7 p.m. (return). If you would like transportation to and from the event, please call either the elementary office at 518-686-9492 or the high school office at 518-686-7321 by the end of the school day on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
"It's all about getting together and having fun," added McDonald. "We really hope people will come out -- it's going to be a great day and, best of all, everything is free!"
