Eagle Square, circa 1900

Tim Wager is working to colorize hundreds of black-and-white photographs of Bennington and environs in the 19th and 20th centuries from the Bennington Museum collection, and has been sharing them with the Banner. This week, we're shifting our focus to Shaftsbury, where this image of a group of buildings of the Eagle Square Manufacturing Co., famous for the manufacture of carpenters squares, was taken around 1900. The Bennington Museum has in its archives a number of Eagle squares.
