Driver, 16, passengers escape serious injury in Route 7 rollover

POWNAL — A 16-year-old Bennington driver and her two passengers escaped serious injury in a one-car rollover crash on Route 7 Thursday, Vermont State Police said.

Alyne Meyer, of Bennington, was driving south at high speed in the area of Jackson Cross Road on Thursday afternoon when she lost control of the 2002 Volkswagen GTI she was driving, according to a media release from the Vermont State Police, Shaftsbury Barracks. The vehicle left the road and overturned numerous times before coming to rest on its roof in the middle of Route 7.

There were two passengers in the car, who were not identified in the release. One was ejected during the crash. Vermont State Police responded to the scene at about 2:26 p.m.

All occupants were transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release.
