Dorset library features nature paintings

DORSET — The featured artist at the Dorset Public Library during the month of April is Lesley Heathcote, who will feature paintings inspired by the beauty and intelligence found in the natural world.

An opening reception, open to the public, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Refreshments will be served.

All of Heathcote's paintings are for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library.

Heathcote grew up in New England and spent many hours in the woods of Vermont, where she developed a deep love of nature. That appreciation of the natural world shows through paintings of birds, animals and landscapes in the medium of soft pastel.

Heathcote received a bachelor's in fine arts from Rhode Island School of Design in 1980. She's been exhibiting art nationally and regionally for more than 30 years.

The library is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 802-867-5774.
