Chef to offer tips on romantic dishes
Simple romantic dishes just right for Valentine's Day will be on the menu on Saturday, Chef Jose Manuel Valines demonstrates cooking techniques at the Le Creuset Outlet Store, 135 Depot St., Manchester, from 1-3 p.m.
Valines attended the Culinary Institute of America and has worked at award-winning restaurants in Puerto Rico, Miami, New York City and in the Hudson Valley. He is currently chef de cuisine at Equinox Luxury Resort's Tavern and Chop, where he indulges his culinary passion of creating farm-to-table dishes.

Library to offer budget information
The Solomon Wright Public Library will be holding public information sessions from 11 a.m. to noon this Saturday and on Feb. 23 to answer questions about its Town Meeting Day budget request.
Board members will be on hand to talk about the library's plans for the future, ask questions, and share a cup of coffee (and perhaps a donut hole or two). The board's budget includes funding for a paid, part-time library director.
Rights & Democracy meets Wednesday
Rights & Democracy - Bennington will hold an organizational meeting on Wednesday at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 200 Pleasant St., Bennington. The gathering begins at 6 p.m. with a potluck. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and continues until 8. For more information, call Mary at 379-6311.
Long Trail School to hold open house
Parents and students can see Long Trail School in action at an open house on Friday, Feb. 22. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of current students, take a tour, meet our Head of School Seth Linfield, and see the new Fieldhouse.
